U.S. Honor Flag Arrival
Posted On: Sep 16, 2021

The United States Honor Flag travels the country honoring America’s fallen heroes, it arrived in Colorado Wednesday and will stay with fallen Firefighter Paramedic Tony Palato through his memorial service next week.

This afternoon Lori Jackson, widow of late SMFR Assistant Chief Troy Jackson who died of occupational cancer in 2019, assisted in moving the flag to a new firefighter memorial travel case which she helped design and unveil today.

The U.S. Honor Flag has deeply meaningful history, especially at SMFR. It honored late Engineer Mike Freeman in 2017 who died of occupational cancer. Chief Jackson was photographed with it while fighting cancer himself. The U.S. Honor Flag returned to SMFR in 2019 to honor Chief Jackson, it was photographed being carried by Honor Guard ahead of his casket, at the same church Tony Palato will be remembered in next week.
